Can we start over?

Welcome to KCSportsPod… KCSportsChat.com! That’s right, we changed our domain and our look (a little). But calm down, I know all two of you are dedicated podcast listeners, so the podcast won’t go away, it will just focus on quality and not quantity. Now our focus is more geared for providing a community for live sporting events related to Kansas City. Things like Royals Opening Day, the  NFL Draft, Sporting KC versus Europe, and other significant events. We know how much it sucks when MLB GameDay lags at work and you can’t get a radio signal. Or when you live on a small island in the Pacific and no one is a Chiefs fan to ask about the latest news. We’ve got you covered.

Here’s how you can participate:

7th Annual March Madness Pool

Let the games begin.

It’s that time of the year again. 4-day weekends of college basketball (Yes!), zero productivity at work (Oh, you know it!), trash talking galore (Boom!), and finding out that Northern Iowa has a basketball team (Jigga-What?). Yes, a great time to watch 64 teams play 63 games in 4 weeks of full-court-orgy-madness. But the NCAA said, “Forget that! We are going to add 4 more teams in their own round and call it the ‘First Four’ sucka!”. Like it or not, this is going to be an extra dose of amateur athletics to easy the pain before watching 6 months of AAAA baseball. Enjoy it while it last.

We know what you like and that’s why we are here. Stay away from those free boring office pools that the guy in IT wins and says, “I’ve never won anything before in my life” (repeatedly). Lame.

Ichiro is exactly right! The Royals will be the hottest team in August and will go 20 and 9 vaulting them into first place in the AL Central.

Bellwether took some great screen shots of Hillman’s ‘stache tonight… and it was glorious.  He looks like Soda Popinski.

Teahen on the Block Again

Best news I’ve heard yet.

Teahen on the trading block (protected) according to Gammons. Thanks MLBTR.

I’ve been calling this for years, but it has taken the Royals too long to figure it out. Mark Teahen is a Major League player, but his mediocarcy and overhyped ability in key positions is killing this Royals team. If he came up in any other organization he would of been in AAA, refining his approach at the plate and figuring out what kind of hitter he is. Instead, he was called up way too early and put into 3 and 4 spots in the lineup based on potenital and a freakish half season of power. His hitting approach is inconsistant laughable at times. Swinging early to prevent getting in a 0-2 count. Also, swinging at anything inside because a lack of knowldge of the inside strikezone. How many times do we have to see Teahen strikeout with the bases loaded this year? He’s 0 for 6 in those situations  and batting .242 in RISP overall.  He’s not an RBI machine, but a perfect 7 or 8 hitter for the Boston Redsox or Altana Braves. It would be sad to see him excel with another team, but the comments made about how “valuable” he is to the team for the different positions he played for the Royals, is a cover-up for saying “you just don’t hit good enough to secure your own spot”.

These Royals players need to be accountable too, as Dayton has said in the past. Mark Teahen has progressive got worse in every batting statistic, except homeruns, since 2006. He is making $3,575,000 this year. I don’t think his hussle and sarcastic jokes make up for that.

Inside Info on Wellemeyer

This series versus the “weakest-division-NL-Central” St. Louis Cardinals  is uber important. But with a Royals god-awful offense that hits better with nobody on-base (.249) than the bases loaded (.167), figure that one out, we pray that Pujols hits solo shots and not with the bases juiced. Though it seems that the Royals have a slight advantage with tonight’s game. MLB.com Gameday Preview is quoted as saying,

“Wellemeyer’s struggles remain a puzzling problem for the Cardinals…”

The reason this is an advantage for the Royals is because they know he sucks (ie. 2007)  and the Cards still think he’s going to throw under a 4.00 ERA. But he’ll probably throw a non-hitter now that I said that.

Manny Eligible For PED HOF

Today, Manny Ramirez was suspended for 50 games because of testing positive for PEDs and will lose nearly $8 million of his $25 million salary. On the bright side, Manny is now eligible for the prestigious Preforming Enhancing Drugs Hall of Fame. Being inducted would give him the privilege of joining other large headed, acne covered, impotent men that strive to ruin their bodies for a couple years of fame and big contracts.

If Manny is voted in, he will join a long list of PED Hall of Famers who have dabbled and abused PEDs in their careers. Big names such as Barry Bonds, Rafael Palmeiro, Lawrence Taylor, the 2000 Kansas City Royals (including Ray Sanchez), and anybody who calls themselves a “Professional Wrestler” are dedicated members.

PED HOFer Great, Neifi Perez, was quoted as saying, “It would be a honor to have Manny join our group and do our laundry.” Neifi, a 3-time PED user, was suspended for 80 games after testing positive for a third time for a banned stimulant. Not many have achieved such PED greatness.
